Hi one of my coils is getting a bit warm.. the bike isn't running ive got ignition on and rigged up to a battery while im messing with other stuff.. just noticed it very warm to touch while other coil is cold... is it just knackerd. its a 82 2a2 sohc.... and what ohms rating do I need for that...

going to pods is an option. but its best to clamp them to the boots as opposed to clamping them direct to the carbs... but I guess you will still have the same problem...its best to circulate crank gasses into the boots..there are a few up for sale on uk ebay..

Hi.i went to turn over the engine on my xs400.and there was a load of gronching sounds.. but when I take the plugs out its fine spins over no probs.. put the spark plugs back in and gronching again. obviously there is a problem when its under load... im in the middle of a project and the bike...

Thanks for all the help and info.. I pick up fork lowers tomoro so il let ya know how I get on. im planning to move the existing fork complete to the other side then do away with the fork with the caliper mounting holes then build up the old lower leg with the drum plate lug on with existing...

Hi ive found set of old drum type lowers.. (not got them yet) ive managed to fit the drum wheel into existing disc type forks making new spacers etc will my existing forks fit into older drum type lowers and are the holes the same for the wheel spindle im guessing yes coz my spindle fits the old...

thanks.. I thought as much thought id get away with swapping the lowers while using the original chrome legs... il have to make up a stainless bracket to hold the drum plate I guess... thanks anyway chris . all the best... Higgy

Hi I know this is an old thread but I had same problem with finding a spoked/drum rear wheel for my xs400 so I got an old Suzuki dr 600 rear wheel had it re spoked and pulled over by about 6mm made up my own brake rod and torque bar with some s tainless I found in the skip.... works...

Hi..does anyone know if the front forks on xs400 disc brake type are the same length as the early drum brake type.. ive put a drum front wheel in my 82 xs but I need the lower leg with the lug on for the brake plate. any advise !!!!! many thanks

Hi does anyone know if the R/L side panels on a 82 2a2 xs 400 fix to the battery box (which I don't have) or fix to the frame its a project bike. maybe original messer has cut original fixings off (don't know) .. any help many thanks.... Higgy uk.

Hi.im a newbie to the site from the uk I'm turning my old 82 xs400 into a flat tracker/scrambler..does anyone know if a xs650 rear wheel will fit into my 400..any help would be great..many thanks....Higgy
