    replacement piston

    Talked to an acquaintance who tends to be a better mechanic in story telling than in real life. He told me he rebuilt a xs400 using pistons from a 200cc Yamaha 1985 moto 4 atv. Anyone have any history or theories on this? I kind of have my doubts.

    bung holder removal

    Am raising the tank on an 81 xs400. Has anyone removed the bung holders from the frame? I want to reuse the holders and not destroy them. There is a gap between the top of the holder and the frame big enough for a hack saw blade. However the frame flairs out and I'm afraid that would cut off...

    carb swap

    For an 81 xs400. Anyone tried swapping out the worthless original carbs with a set of Honda CB carbs? This is my second xs400 and I would rather spend money on a new setup instead of wasting time on the the original non adjustable junk. This latest bike will run shorty mufflers and UNI pods...
