    Charging too well?? Help!

Thanks for the responses guys, when I was looking for the battery I made sure it's good for these kinds of voltages. the battery is rated for 14.5v-14.9v, should I look for one that goes a bit higher? Also. Just to clear things up, does the voltage regulator switch tthe stator on and off to...

    Charging too well?? Help!

Good morning lads, Been having troubles with my charging system now that I've been putting the kms on the bike. I've been using this battery http://www.amazon.ca/UPG-UB1250-Sealed-Lead-Batteries/dp/B001DL9IBC After a good ride at highway speed it seems to fry the battery. I pulled...

Joe's XS400 Heritage classic custom build!

Here's a few more of how it sits now. Also took off my clutch cover to look at the kick start guts. The odd time it doesn't engage and slips but I think its due to not giving that little line up before I give it the kick. I'm always cautious to not karate kick the thing cause I've seen...

Will gas tanks made for a Yamaha XS650 fit a XS400?

I tried and the 650 tank is a lot narrower, If you relocated the coils and reworked the mounting point it would work (I think). Not a bolt on deal.

    Only runs when choked

Running only when choked to me sounds like its starving for fuel, is there an air leak in your fuel line? or your petcock/line clogged? I've seen this happen. Just my .02 since it sounds like you've gone over the carbs quite thoroughly I'd start looking elsewhere.

what size tubing are you guys using for your seat loops?

Ha ha yeah 7/8 sounds right I didn't measure I just lined it up and the frame and handlebar tubing matched! I was actually trying to mod my stock bars, but when I placed the bars together in that shape I knew I had to use em for my loop. One less bend to do!

what size tubing are you guys using for your seat loops?

I just did it, used handlebar tubing its the same outer and inner diameter as the frame tubes. My uncle has a press in his shop and we bent it with that, kinked a little but I'm happy with it overall!
