Bike's a little ripper around town. Torn right down, no tack or speedo. I ride it to and from work every day 20mins each way on the hi-way. Built it last spring at the shop I work at. Check out my profile for build pics.

I got a '78 xs400 and first was running good on both jugs, then for no apparent reason it decided to only run on the right. So I adjusted the valves, which were in spec, and static timed it, gapped the points, put in new plugs, wires, caps, coils and condenser. Put it all back together and...

I'm gonna boil my carbs in vinegar but I'm wondering if I need to take any or all of the rubber pieces off first? And also is it alright to boil the floats as well? And is vinegar the best thing to use or is lemon juice better? Thanx.

yeah I got the busted needle out pretty easily. And I just totally cleaned the carbs out again today and put in the 45 pilots in and it runs like a total bag o shat. I hope that maybe it's the timing cause I checked the plugs after a little ride and one was really lean and the other looked...
