Hey guys! picked up a 1980 special II this weekend.

In pretty rough shape cosmetically but the important stuff seems to be ok. After a little carb cleaning and new gas (not the year old stuff that came in it) I think it'll run.

Other wise I'm shooting turn it into a scrambler. Here's as I got it

I'm particularly fond of the 100% organic duct tape seat

oh I have. ive been lurking for a while leading up to the purchase. So far as it is theres a stuck float (I think) in the starboard carb. turning the petcock on jut lets it flood out. so job #1 will be tear down, clean and rebuild the carbs.

So far though im just excited that the tires hold air

Planning on replacing the tires anyways? How old are they? There is a 4 digit number on them to signify week and year they were manufactured.

Oh I'm sure they are that old. The rubbers hard and you can start to see the weave in the rear.

To answer the question yes they will be replaced. I'll get a dual sport type for it. I'd like the cast wheels and disks when this all gets going.

The avatar is my goal

It's just much easier to roll it around than on flat rubber
