81 xs400 turn signal problem

I have a 81 xs400 special, sohc. For some reason my flashers don't work sometimes. I've checked my fuse box, changed fuses and even switched the connectors around to see if it was the fuse box. It's not, I've checked the plug-in connectors that go from the fuse box to the rear signals and they aren't corroded and look good. Would be a bad ground somewhere? Should I open up the switch housing itself and see if it's corroded? Help please

My switch housing was full of dead spiders... I'd open it up, clean it up, and grease it up.
Next thought would be the flasher relay or autocanceller may be dying.

A weak battery can cause them to do this.

But once the bike is started wouldn't the flashers run off of what acts as an alternator?

I opened it up yesterday and it was super clean.

If the battery is weak or your charging system is weak no. Check volts at the battery at 5k rpm's it should be around 14.5 Also are you using stock lights? Your flasher relay may also be going bad.

Just got a new battery a little over a month ago, I'd hope that isn't the problem
