A substitute battery

It was always the bet with my friend when it would give out. The last few years of it the volts would be around 12.2-3 when I first get it out in the spring and been off the tender for a few weeks. Then I would start riding it and the dam thing would hold 12.6  I only replaced it because I got a new one thinking it would not come back.

When my truck frame rusted out and I scrapped the truck I kept the battery, I put this battery in the van I bought to replace the truck. I kept the van battery as a spare. It works very well as a jumper for the bikes. I just set it beside the bike and use jumper cables to run just the starter, I let the bike battery run the ignition.
If you don't have a headlight on/off switch just remove the headlight from the bucket, unplug it and set it somewhere safe.
