Thanks, The paint is interesting, I am gonna paint the bike bc/cc black pearl metalic. I will post some more pics of the build soon. Currently it is suspended in my garage by some ratchet straps from the ceiling. Lots of changes coming to the old toy.

Well here is the bike in mach-up tonite. Firestone bias-plys on 18" Front and Rear wheels, lowered Front forks, hand Made Seat/cowl, cx500 tank, hand made clipOns.
yada yada.
 
I thought so also, It:thumbsup: was a real pain to find this tank. So I was just at home on my lunch break and trimmed the frame side tank mount ears off. And trimmed the front of my seat pan back 2"s. Now the tank sits 2"s lower than in the picture, I found that the seating position is now more relaxed with that little bit of finesse.
 
The Gauge mount is stock speedo only, I used the ignition switch bolt holes on the top yoke and a piece of sheet metal to mount it almost as a factory spot. The forks, took 4.5" out of the fork springs and made aluminum spacers to take up the slack. The Headlamp is a factory headlamp with a h4 conversion lens and a visor from a big star cruiser cut and trimmed to fit the xs400 lamp. I love this bike, it is starting to take a good shape after 8+ years of on and off tinkering.

Hmmmn, okay, good for you for goin' for it there. I'm always happy to see someone pushing limits by jamming larger engines into small frames. I do it myself probably too much. Keep in mind I don't know you or your skill level so please don't take offense at what I'm about to say while you are still building and designing.

With specials like these, unless you have some really fancy software that takes chassis loads and vibration fatigue into account always ALWAYS overbuild. Get a 650 frame in front of you and pay real close attention to how it was constructed and how thick the metal they used is. You aren't trying to recreate that old frame but you apparently want something that in the end will carry that engine and give you the handling you desire. Chromoly tubing is a friend -it is stupid light for its strength and can be safely welded to standard steel if you know what you are doing otherwise you can braze it. Yes it is more expensive but if you get a solid design figured out you can plot your lengths efficiently. Triangles are also the strongest shapes in nature and manmade objects if you start looking you'll see them everywhere adding strength to things.

You have an interesting look going on there, get that design plan figured out so you'll be happy with the result you want. Again I like where you're headed but have no idea who you are. :thumbsup:
 
I'm a nobody. This bike has been slugged, gusseted, plug welded and had had more 120 wall Dom rubbing installed then what the bike ever had originally. No worry's here friend. And the design was put threw a stress analysis software program. I'm just a guy with a long term dream. The back bone of the bike is a xs650 piece from a 650 frame.
