ive been searching and searching for a chain slider for the swing arm pivot area as all my other bikes ive ever owned have had something to that affect.

having zero success i have to wonder does it exist?

also thanks for the forum ive been scouring this forum for a little while and should have something of interest to share once i get my wiring done. thanks XS'ers

If your chain is hitting the swing-arm on this bike it's too loose; like way too loose.

At least on my '78 the chain has to be way out of spec to hit the swing-arm.

Things have changed over the years; tolerances are tighter and many swing-arms are made of aluminum.

Anyway, I've never seen anything made specifically for the xs400. I thought about making something in the past, but recently I haven't given it much thought.

Don't see a need for one on my '79. What year/model is yours?

None of these bikes came with a chain guide or slide. Those are mostly used on dirt bikes or bikes with a lot of wheel travel. Like BC said your chain might be too loose. If it is adjusted proper it should not touch anything other than you sprockets:wink2:
