broke carb emergency

Well, my pin is all gnarled up anyway, so this would be a good option.
I was thinking about replacing it with some scavenged pin, but have yet to find anything that fits. Maybe I'll even make my own on the lathe... who knows :)
For now, a Q-tip will hold it together

So the whole soldering experiment ended up an utter disaster. The solder would not adhere to the aluminum no matter what we tried, and the tower would just fall off.

I got lucky however, as my uncle decided to fire up his TIG-welder to try and replace the broken part with a brand new blob of bauxite. And guess what, it worked! He managed to weld a narrow column without melting the carb in the process.

So after that I did some filing and measuring, eventually leaving me with a working piece!
