I'm starting my cafe build and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to mount the seat to the frame in such a way that it could be flipped open on either the left or the right side to be able to access the battery and fuses?

how about keeping the standard side hinged arrangement

or hinge at the rear so it flips up like a car bonnet/hood

A pair of hinges on the back top of the cowl so you can lift the seat cushion up away from the tank and then you can use the area in the cowl as a trunk if you put a floor in it.

I wish I could claim the metal work. It is a bike I just bought from Washington, should have it in a week or two. I will put some pics of it up in Other Rides as it is not an XS400. The bike has some great fabrication and cool details. I am just going to do some electrical and light mechanical and call it good.
