Cam gear ruptured, how to procede?

Well looks like my luck has run to an all time low. i started to hear it and before i got it home the engine quit and i noticed the camshaft was not turning with the engine. The cam gear is in at least 3 pieces i have found two and am still missing the two bolts that held it on. Whats the best way to fish it back out?/am i as screwed as i think i am?

need to pull the head off as you may have bent valves.

whilst the engine is partly stripped, look for the bolts using a magnetic thingy.
