Can someone verify my valve timing?

First off a question: my crankshaft wants to roll past the TDC timing mark due to the valve springs acting on the camshafts. Normal? To get it to true TDC I have to approach it with a spanner and hold it in place when this happens. After I remove the spanner it continues to move a bit.

'82/'82 DOHC Maxim engine. I think I have everything lined up but as a first timer on this engine I'd like a second opinion.

Is the intake sprocket off a tooth?

Thanks,
Matt

Looks good to me, certainly not a tooth off! Count the number of teeth on the cam sprocket and divide 360 by that number. That will tell you how many degrees per tooth. The pics suggest less than 10 degrees off. While not 100% perfect, it's good enough for a production motor.
