Hola, amigos
So, sorry if this has been answered...
I have a 1979 XS400 with a bad carb
I have a clean, operational, 81 carb.
Can I just mount this on and ride out?

Thanks in advance.

The 81 might be a bit different due to the environmental regs at the time. I think they run leaner and the carb is plugged so you can't mess with it. If you are going to swap, you should swap both

Only in pairs they can be swapped. The 77-79 carbs are designed different. The slides are smaller in diameter than the later ones. There are other changes also. Keep the years matched.

Do a search of the forum there are different methods for removing them.

Thanks, I ended up pushing them through with a dental pick, and a needle. Took a little bit bit they popped out without any noticeable damage.
But, I then realized the mix screws were broke and the ones on my 81' card are not the same.
So, I just decided to counter sync the 81' and set the air mix screws at 3 turns out, installed it, and its started first try with a steady consistent idle! HYPED i need to hook the tachometer up and tune it down a bit, but i think until my new screws arrive ill run this.
thanks dudes
