Difference between Head and Base Gaskets

Got the o-rings but confused about where they go. One manual says the dowels go on the right side of the cylinder but where do the seals go??

so long as there is the corresponding hole for that flat O ring to fit in, should be ok.

I think there should be a Traditional O ring there perhaps.

Did you get the SOHC gasket kit?

It's a DOHC gasket and o-rings.
