Is it possible to remove the copper/bronze/whatever part with thread where you screw the speedo cable? I tried holding it from the thread, with pliers and cloth between, and turn it but i only managed to damage the thread a bit
Do you know is the big screw like part brass too? I wanna wash it cause there is a lot of goo on it, but i think it would be pretty bad if it would rust, and i will get the thing powder coating so i dont want it to cause any trouble in the oven.
rust is a iron thing, the correct term is corrosion or oxidization and yes brass (copper and zinc) will oxidize just takes longer, this oxidation, which affects primarily the surface of the metal, serves to slow down the corrosion process and gives the brass a patina, which may be either desirable or frustrating, depending on your perspective
