Fork tube size.

What is the diameter of the forks on the XS400?
I want to put the XS400 drum front wheel on my BSA A65 frame and would think the least expense and hassle would be by putting the forks and all into the A65 triple tree?
The A65 has 35mm forks.

I guess the next question is what is the center to center spacing of the XS400 forks?

I belive they are 33mm...I belive the xs650 has 35mm tubes.

Yeah, was afraid of that.

I've got a bunch of XS-650 35mm parts, but all the wheels are disk brake. The XS-400 wheels being drum brake fronts, will fit the '69 BSA look for the period.

Is the axel the same for the XS-650 and XS-400?

Otherwise I'll have to locate an early XS-650 ('71 or '72) wheel with drum brake and that's gonna be costlier. :-(

can you locate the triple trees off a xs 400 in 33mm...ought to be easily had for cheap.
I have the drum setup ...forks, swingarm, rims, hardware etc,..
Theres a sale pending on the rims and hardware.
i dont have extra triple trees unfortunately

The xs400 axle is 13mm
the xs650 axle is 15mm

Beware of the XS400DOHC, the diameter of the Fork tube size is 35mm.

i have a 79 xs400 i dont know what the fork diameter I need to know the size cause im ordering some universal headlight mounts

I don't think that is correct... This is what I have..

XS650 front: 17mm
XS650 rear: 20mm

XS400 front: 15mm
XS400 rear: 17mm

Handlebar diameter is 22mm or 7/8"
