I picked this bike up from a buddy for $100. He drained the gas and parked it in a shed 12 years ago. I got it started and it wont run unless the choke is on and also bogs when giving it throttle.
I also will be looking for a front fender. Why that is missing I don't know.

Good score:thumbsup: Sound like it will need carb work for sure. We need pics!!

I think any fender from most any Yamaha from that time frame will fit. I might suggest using an XS650 fender. They have a very strong brace built into the fender. I think an XS400 fender is similarly braced. They forks tend to flex an twist when hard cornering. The heavy bracing helps prevent this.
The XS400 and the XS650 use small diameter tubes. The XS400 is 34 mm I think. The XS650 used 34 mm early, 35 mm late. The heavier bikes like the XS750, 850 and 1100 used 36 and 37 mm tubes and were stiff enough they didn't need the heavy bracing.
I used an XS1100 fender and it was almost as bad as no fender. I got an XS650 fender and it now handles much better.
