I finally got my hands on a 1980 xs400. As I said in my first intro I'm not the most mechanicly inclined but I know which way to turn a wrench and don't mind getting my hands dirty. This is my 6th bike. I have a minor addiction of buying, selling and trading bike.

This one I picked up for $650. She runs and rides but is kick start only right now, the starter button and signals don't work. I'd like to do a cafe style. I don't plan on doing much more than cosmetics until until the winter when I'll do a complete tear down and rebuild.

I got a little progress done tonight. Took out the air boxes, pulled the carbs off, pulled off the battery box, cut off the rear of the frame and pulled the wiring harness.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a simplified wiring harness? I plan on not running turn signals and doing kick only but leaving the starter in place in case I want to change it back.
