How do I determine which plug wire goes to which cylinder?

1983 XS400 Maxim DOHC

This seems like a simple thing but I can't seem to figure out for certain which plug wire goes where. I assume that the wire coming off the coil mounted to the left hand side goes to the left cylinder, but I want to be sure.

Try it that way, if it doesn't work try it the other way.
