how much is ideal??

okay so i need new coils on my 1982 xs400s what is the ideal ohms for coils??

You need a manual,not so much to buy one,just download one.Look at the tech section.I downloaded on a cd-rom,and look up and read up on whatever info that I need. lha

I don't remember what stock is but generally you will need somewhere in the area of a 3 OHM coil. Points bikes usually take a higher OHM coilm around 4.5 to 6.

Stock is primary winding resistance 4.0 ohms (+/- 10%), and secondary winding resistance 9.5 K ohms (+/- 20%).
