In Need Of Major Help

I have a 78 XS400E. On the bottom of the crankcase is a large, unthreaded hole just off the side of the strainer assembly. I have determined that this hole is suppose to have a flat plug sealing it. My question is there suppose to be anything above this plug? Or could I just drive a freeze plug into it and call it good? Thanks for any assistance you can give.

wow, you managed to get that out?

its a machined plug with an O ring on it. its not in the parts manual.

anything you put in there make sure it can't escape or you drop ALL of your oil out

Thanks for the response. I figured that was all it was but I was concerned there may be some sort of valve above it. I actually purchased the bike with a locked up engine and this part was missing.
