Radical. A better part is obviously better than repairing a part. You lucked out on that spare engine I think!
And yeah, the 45 degree angle solder was learned the hard way! LOL. Most things are. My first attempt had three straight wires jutting out into rotor land. Would not have even let me close up the case like that. I was patient and went back in and did it the angled way and it worked. My neighbors may or may not have heard some words emitting from the garage that sounded....agitated.
