So I was looking at Dime City Cycles website and came across this nifty little petcock

I like the simple design with the longer switch and no reserve.

Only problem is it has a 1/4" npt fitting so the $7 3/8" npt adapter plate from partsnmore wouldnt work without another adapter to convert the male 1/4" npt fitting into the female 3/8" npt adapter. I think I can find that adapter for a couple of bucks at the local hardware or plumbing store though.

The price wouldnt be bad at $16 for the petcock + $7 for the plate + a couple bucks for the adapter. No reserve though which I have no problem with but give me some reasons for why I would need reserve and I might reconsider this.

There is also this petcock without the longer switch but comes with the reserve function AND the correct 3/8" npt fitting for the partsnmore adapter plate.

So my question is would there be any reason why the first petcock wouldnt work for my setup? Thanks!

As someone who in one year has run out of gas 4 times - 3 times getting to the station on reserve, and once (after I forgot to switch to reserve) havingto wait half an hour in the sweltering heat for a rescue - I am not able to give you an objective opinion.

Personally I'd go with your second choice... that first one looks way too cheap on a custom bike... I have one of them on my sawmill:D
