Bike is a 1980 SG Just discovered/repaired a short in the LF pedestal. I hacked the pedestals with the heli-coil trick to shorten them. Well I didnt break the tab off the heli-coil and it was shorting to the bulb contact.
Anyway I fixed that fired the bike up hit the turn signal....bike dies! To confirm I re-started and held rpm at 2500 and flipped the turn signal. Bike dropped rpm on each blink.... SO, I know I have a + short somewhere in the left signal but question is where. Would the current draw of a + short to ground be enough to kill the motor like that??? Or could it be shorting with another wire??
Just trying to get a head start on WHERE to look before blowing the whole harness apart....Thanks!!
