Just picked up a '82 xs400 with every intention of rebuilding it into a nice custom. First some pics:

So far I've started pulling things and poking around, the Haynes manual I have seems tto be useless...

That'll buff out right?

TBH, I'm not entirely sure what it is. Can anyone give me some input on Exactly it is I have here? I'll be needing a LOT of parts and everything I seem to be finding is either for older models or don't look like they'll work.

I`d say the carbs were just slightly dirty

Just a little, the tank apparently had water sitting in it and you can actually see the level it was rusted at.

Looks fine to me. Some fresh fuel, new oil and charge the battery and she will purr like a kitten.

I have to get the tank situation fixed sharpish. What tank could I swap this one with?

another xs400 seca tank will work But other than that I'm thinking a xs400 maxim tank would also fit, as they have the same frame. Not 100% sure it'll fit though, but it's worth a shot
