Hey guys. I've been searching and searching for the ever elusive carb combo that apparently a lot of us are looking for. My name is Ryan and i'm for Chicago's west burbs. I've been building this for about 3 years and finally got it running last summer and rode it a bit but something wasn't quit right. I parked it after my clubs big show last year in October and never really had the time to fix all the things i found i needed to do. Well i'm fixing all the smaller things and got back into the carbs for about the 1 millionth time. I think i'm getting real close but will see. Just wanted to say hi and thanks for having so much great info. Here's my 400 as it started off as and what it is today. I also have a Virago and a BSA that i'm working on so will hopefully get the 400 done soon so i can ride it while i work on those.

Those are the north burbs, rather, the north shore, not the west.

Thanks guys! Yeah i'm over in Berwyn(next to Cicero & Oak Park) just west of the city. Evanston and Winnetka are north, northwest of the city. The white one is my freinds '62 and the green one is my freinds '59. Both were shot at the Hunnert Car Pile Up but 2 different years. Heres a pic from my errands around the neighborhood this past saturday.

Thanks a ton. I really hoping to get out a bit this weekend on it. My new jets should be here early next weekend but i might be able to limp it through a few days. I'm running too rich so at least i'm not running lean.

That '63 was so badass just sitting there i had to turn around anc come back for a pic. Cicero sounds similar to Santa Ana, haha!

That is a very handsome bike and I bet it's a hoot to bomb around on. How does it stop?

It stops pretty well for just having a rear drum. I ride like everyone is out to kill me and will cut my off and i've been fine. I do have a set of 650 disc legs at home and am thinking about putting a front disc on. Its fun as shit to ride and stopped pretty good when a car slammed on the brakes in front of my on the highway. I just pumped as fast as i could and went onto the shoulder just in case.

I'm building this(sorry its not xs400 related) for a little more nimble breaking and riding. Bigger motor and will have brakes front and rear.
