Hi all !

New, from the Netherlands............
Building a xs650, but I'm using parts from a xs400.
I'm wondering if there are forks legs that are longer than the originals.

I'm having a 400 drumbrake hub laced into a 21"Akront shouldered rim right now.
I'm using a 400 frontfork.33mm legs and triple trees. ( yes, I made it fit onto the xs650 ) The legs might be a little too short ( not sure , because i wanted to lower the front anyway)

the SE or specials had longer stancions than the standard model.

A little more intro would be nice bro'

welcome to the forum

Yup, you're right about the intro.

Well. I'm married, 38y old, 2 kids.
I used to build Rc-powerboats, but after 15 years doing that i got a bit bored about it.
So I sold my whole fleet, and bought an '79 xs650 frame with engine.
Wanna make it bobber-styled.
The TC-Bros hardtail is now in the Dutch customs, aswell as the xs400 frontlegs.
I already had bought a xs360 '77 drumbrake and an Akront 21" front wheel.
The triple trees are from a '79 xs400, 33mm holes.
Extended the "central piece" to fit in the longer xs650.
To get the frame leveled with the ground , I might need forks that are a little longer.
But I'm not sure because I can't assemble the whole front yet.

nice one, I used to build and fly RC planes, damn expensive (especially if you crash)
I think the SE stancions are about 1" longer if that helps.

Hi, and welcome from germany.

The forks and the springs from the 2A2 '77 and the 2A2 '79 are not identically.

The '77 fork is shorter as them from '79.

The 2A2 '79 fork might be identically with the SE/4G5 fork and the 2A2 '77 with the 360.

Here is an short info about the springs:

The triple clamp between these modells is different too:

Thanks for the input.
I'll guess I now have to wait for the forks to come in, and then I can see
how the forks fit.

Forks do fit the way I like it.
As you can see, a 360/400 drumbrake-hub into a 21" Akront works well .

Welcome to the forum GB  Are you going for the Fong Bros look with the skinny front end? Looking good with what you've got going there :) (rear bottom cross member looks a bit close to the wheel maybe...?)

i found a cb forum once that had a list of not all of course, but a lot of shocks and the size of the stantions all nice and neat on one sheet. anyone seen that floating around lately?
