No Starter!

First of all, great forum, thanks all for putting up with newbies! I am looking to get rid of starter, I have purchased a very small non-lead battery and fabricating a case for it...sooo i still have this ignition unit which i think is the same as the CDI unit and the other few pieces/capacitors.... I realize from drewpy forums, question/answers, the battery is needed for the 1980 xs400, so no worries there. I would like to just keep headlight, taillight/brakelight and thats about it, kick start only, I'm going to make new elect harness, can anyone provide some insight to what to keep and what not? Sorry if too vague, learning as i go....

for my 77 only need regulator/rectifier/battery/alternator/points/coils/ignition/and condensers and 20 amp fuse.
Then lights: brake, headlight, speedo/tach/oil,neutral,

I am getting rid of all i can, i have no problem kick starting and want to clean and lighten it up as much as possible....first conversion project, so maybe down the road I'll want different, we'll see how it goes...
