Odd bike

my bike is a 1978 xs400 but it has some odd quirks it came stock with front and back caliper brakes, wind shield and rear storage but the vin number says it is a base model and it has no special badging any ideas of what’s up with this?

The 78-E model had front and rear disc brakes from the factory. The other stuff was an easy add on for anyone back in the day. Post some pics of the bike.

From what I know the bike has only had one owner and never modified it he rode it once before winter locked it in his basement until he died that’s when I bought it at an estate sale. Also the bike has a small badge on the rear fender that says “certified Yamaha Danville

He could have had the dealer put the extra stuff on. These bikes had accessories that could be put on.

Oh well probobaly I’m just trying to make sure if I use the normal 78 repair manual it will still work normally
