Oil type 79 xs4?

Okay! So my bike is just about ready for the road all that is needed are a new pair of tires
And some fresh oil!

I read on here that some of you have been running 15w-40 desil oil in your bikes
I have been considering doing this but am wondering what the proper oil type is for a 1979 xs400
Non special edition.

Are their any objections to running the 15w-40 oil or would it be wise to stick with the proper oil, the bike has around 37,000km on it.

I ride a 1979 XS400- I have used Shell Rotella T 15w40 for years. It's great, but any quality diesel oil at that weight should work.
