This small "washer" came from my petcock underneith the vac. nipple. To me it seems very restricting with only a pin size hold through the middle. Is this piece necessary? I woud think the vac/diaphragm would work a lot better without it...or maybe the system vac system would get too much air. Any ideas?

Put it back in. It is there to dampen the vacuum pulses going to the diaphragm. If it isn't in place the diaphragm will flutter and wear out, along with the o-rings.

Its a valve to help with keeping the air flow in one direction. Don't take it out:thumbsup: If you blow then suck air threw it you will notice its harder to push then pull.

Its back in! Thanks for the quick posts guys. I knew it had to be in there for a reason, just didnt know what that reason was. Both replys make sence...and yes it is easier to pull than push!
