I've recently buy a XS 400.
Can someone tell me what the real power of this Bike model ?

real power?
depends how fit the engine is. Mines rebuilt and I'd say it 40 bhp as I ported it

standard was 37 bhp

45bhp is the DOHC models (but there were some reduced in power for some states and in Germany)

I thought I read somewhere the XS400 only had 27 horsepower to meet some German insurance requirement.

I suspect that most 30 year old bikes are well below their original posted power. So whether or not it started at 27 or not, they might be that low now!
