Ratio of tachometer?

Looking to replace the stock tach with something smaller, does anyone know the what ratio I should be looking for in a tach?

I'm gonna BUMP this 'cause I'm looking for the same thing. I want to put a smaller tach on my 82 xs400j, but I dont know what ratio to be looking for. Help?

I searched this site and a few other places. The consensus seems to be that it's 1:5
