howdy all, i have playing with my 78 xs400 when i have time.
im going to be replacing my headlight with a bottom mount. so i want to remove the chrome tubes that the headlight mounts to, not just the tabs. are these pieces necessary?

You might have to think whereabouts the loom will connect inside the lamp shell, unless you are re-wireing !

i will be rewiring thanks to the awesome write ups on here. im going to be collecting all necessary parts and pieces, then make it just one project.

or, you could also lift the tripleclamp at the top and lift them up. This way your bike can still be on the ground. :)

Both ways you get the same result. :)

i figured they were not important, but i wanted the blessing of the guru's.

thanks

What are you going to do with them? The reason I am asking is that Mine on my '82 seca is shot, and not the style I'm looking for,so I'm looking for an alternative. Is it a regular headlight bucket like most bikes of this period? lha
