shorten clutch and brake cable

The question is when i shorten my clutch and front brake cable should i do it on lever end or device end.

I would simply buy shorter cables. By the way, don't you mean brake hose? Or do you have a drum brake at the front?

If you really want to shorten the cables I don't think it matters at which end you do it.

Yes it has drum brake up front. Don't have 100 or so to spend. Besides I'm using this build as a skill set builder

I would do it on whatever end does not show as much for the housing (nothing beats factory crimps for looks), but on the cable, I would shorten whichever end has the bigger cable end so it is easier to reattach the cable end....and getting that reattached well is no joke.
