special tank same as 2f ?

Did some searching, saw that the boxy tanks dont interchange straight up. But will a special tank swap with no mods for my 2f? My tank has some holes. It has been red koted, but it really is in awful shape.

Any of the tear drop style tanks will bolt on. 78-82 sohc xs400.

So for 70 dollars, i got a special tank. Has some dents, but clean inside. Its red, but nothing i cant fix with some time and a rattle can. I doubt ill ever put a ton of effort into this paint as this thing will see primarily off pavement.

You could go the other way. A rattle-can of matching red could do the trick too!
