I really need to rebuild the carbs so starting is easier, the electric start is not working. Here's the deal, the post that does not go to the battery has no wires going to it. When I hit the start button the solenoid clicks and there is magnetic flow. Does this other post supposed to have a wire going to the starter? I mean it's there for something. Also someone cut into the stock harness and looped in a 20 amp blade fuse. A simple starting system diagram would be awesome. I have not even checked to see if there is a starter in the bike, I am pretty sure there is, but ya never know...here is a pic.

that post goes to the starter motor wire, to confuse you its black, runs in a clip along the front rear inner fender up into the solenoid

That's what I was thinking. I am going to try and just run a nice thick wire to the starter and to the solenoid and try it out. thank you.
That may help prevent this type of situation from ever happening again.....
