Switching to Electronic Speedo and Tach

So I've been reading around on how to convert to electronic gauges, I just want to know how you would do it, if anyone has done it here. For the speedo would I just slap a sensor and reader on the front wheel and fork? And for the tach, would I have to get an inductive pickup sensor and connect it to the main coil wire?

Had a combined digital tacho/speedo on my old gsxr street fighter and it had the exact set up you mention so should work no problem with electronic gauges
