what is the original factory issue tire for the 1982 xs400

Looking to restore my '82. doe's anyone know the original factory tire brand Yamaha used when the xs400 was new?
I have a cheng shin front tire and a kenda rear. any info would be nice. just wanted to check here before I check at the dealer. some ole timer might know.

My 81 had Yokahoma's. My guess would be the 82 Yamahas had them as well. Shinko bought out Yokahoma's molds in the Late 90's when they got out of the MC tire business.

I noticed that Shinko still uses the mold for the tires that were stock on my bike, but they sell it as a tiny scooter tire only. (SR400 if you want to look at it)

FWIW the Japanese brand IRC has almost identical tires to what I had stock, the GS-11. They are very similar.

82's might have been different though, so all this I just typed might be worthless for you.
