Which battery for xs400 doc startmotor

Hi guys,

I'm currently rebuilding my xs400 seca into a cafe racer.
because this bike has no kickstart, I have to use the startmotor.
Does anyone know which battery I have to use?
12V ofcourse, but what [Ah]?

I believe that 12Ah is the recommended size. I chose a Yuasa YT12A-BS sealed (AGM) battery when I was modifying my bike. It is rated at 9.5Ah and 175CCA. I am pleased with it after 2+ years, 26000+ km, road and dirt, -5C to +35C. No leaks, corrosion, servicing, or any troubles with it.

If you are considering Li-Ion, be aware that they are rated different, but from what I understand, go bigger or you may end up pushing your bike.

Hi there, on my 82 Maxim, I use a 12v12Ah battery, I think the battery is an Excide YB12A-A, I should use one of these Ah, as using the electric start, really pulls some power, from the battery!
