I am in the process of going through the Japanese Spaghetti that is cleverly disguised as wiring on my 1979 XS 250 model 1U5.
OK, first things first.
I have downloaded and printed off several wiring diagrams and purchased a brand new battery.
I have looked at the loom, and after seeing 4 or 5 different types of installation tape, stripped it back and exposed the whole lot for further inspection.
All the connector plugs on the bike have been un-clipped and re-clipped, and cleaned.
There are several wires that go from two feeds into one, and these have been soldered.
After taking the left hand switch apart, I now know that the indicator switch is broken, but when I jump the wires going to this switch, both indicators work.
The High / Low Switch is snapped.
The horn also works.
I have a generic switch now on order.
Moving on, I had the bike starting on the start button.
I had no lights. No Head Light or Rear Light.
The On / Off Switch did not work.
So this is the state of play as of today.
Any ideas or guidance is always welcome.
