I need some help en fitting a push/pull throttle to a Mikuni BS 34carburettor – well is it at all possible?

It is possible, but why would you need a push/pull throtle cable system? The original method is perfect set up, as you are pulling against spring pressure, this is a safety system in case you come off, or, get knocked off your bike, so that it will return to a tickover, when the twistgrip is released. This is to stop the engine from over revving, whilst the back wheel is spinning wildly! and blowing your engine up!

Interesting idea. I can't see why it wouldn't be possible. Some custom fabrication required for sure.
Might be able to replace the stock lever on the carbs with the round one from a push/pull throttle body, with some custom mounting for it and the cable holders.
Also curious why. I've seen it mentioned as a requirement for forced induction conversions to counter the possibility of the slide getting stuck by the force of air.

In case you're serious enough to try...
One option off a Mikuni TM carb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172243893206
Even appears to have a set screw for mounting to a shaft. No idea what the shaft diameter is.
The carb for reference:

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the cable bracket can be bought separately so you'd be fabricating something from scratch or sourcing some other bracket and fabricating a mount for it.

Another option from a Harley SU carb kit: https://www.wwag.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/WebSite.woa/wa/DirectAction?action=forceEnglish&page=!50677
Has the cable bracket. Custom fabrication required again for the bracket mount.

Either option would require some mounting system fabricated for the push/pull lever. Rather than replacing the stock lever it might be possible to extend the butterfly shaft out the right side of the right carb, mounting the new throttle pulley outside the carbs.
It would retain the stock lever's wide open throttle stop, stock idle adjustment stop, and stock carb balancing adjustment.
Done carefully it could be easy to revert the modification back to stock or switch between the two.

Not a project I'd take on without a machine shop in my garage. Just throwing ideas out there.
