when I got this 400 it would try to start but just wouldn't, took it to a guy after I had the carbs apart and he fixed it .pull the enricher knob and usually first kick, now back to the same t

Maybe install new fuel lines as well as a fuel filter if there isnt one. Also check the ignition coils. You might need new plug wires also if they are old.
