I have a 76 Yamaha XS360. Are the 76 XS400 Frames basically the same bike? There is a needle bearing swing arm conversion on MikesXS that is listed for a XS400 and I would like to update the old brass bushings while I have it apart.

The xs360 and the sohc xs400 swing arms are the same. I have read that the best setup for these bikes is using the bronze bushings. The needle bearings don't hold up as well and are an overkill for the amount of movement the swing arm has. If you have a xs360 swing arm bolt that is non-grease-able I would look for a later xs400 one that is. It will keep the grease in the sleeve full keep at all times without having to take it apart to pack it. Putting it in with the pressure of a grease gun insures all the spaces are covered.
