Yup! Fresh gas, new plugs and compression!

I’ve got gas, carbs have been cleaned, got spark, new battery. Kicked the heck out of it. Wants to start but won’t quite catch. Does fire a little, starting fluid doesn’t help. Ideas? Could it be weak spark coil issue? It had been starting, then sat for a while until I got fuel petcock leak...

On mine, the spline was OK, but the lever was broken again after a previous weld. I went with the part # Dean provided, 2L1-18111-00-00 and looked online. Found one that was a 30 some dollars and free shipping. Can't remember the suppliers name but I think I got the last one in stock anyway.

My 78 XS 400 has a leaky fuel shut off. Split in gasket to tank and does not shut off fuel completely. Currently have an in-line shut off on it. Checked cost for stuff to rebuild it at dealer, way expensive. Ideas?

Replaced broken shift lever. That's it. It's winter here.
