Hey guys, I picked this '83 up for $150 not running and not knowing anything about these bikes. This forum quickly hooked me and I love these bikes now. Therefore I really want to incorporate the Monoshock and was lookin to build a Bobber style.

A good carb cleaning got it running. Thanks to all. The more I tear down the more I realize how this will quickly consume me. I am really enjoying it and appreciate all the different Threads and info here.

Cleaned up the Monoshock today. A buddy gave me a tank off a 650, Ill need some opinions as I have no idea if it will work or not. The tank that came with the bike is off a Sportster I think.

Thanks Wester. The 650 tanks is nice because it hides the frame. Not a pretty frame to expose in my opinion. However...the Sportster tank exposes the monoshock which is what I find so interesting about the bike in the first place.

not feeling any of them TBH. I think you need to be fairly "modern" in the fact you have mono shock.

just like the tabloids, build me up then knock me down :D

when I get home from work I'll look around.

Hey Trav, where's me wages? :D

Drewpy - think i can be your agent? I'll send you my resume. (i believe you call them CV's???)

SK8 - I think drewpy might be referring to something like an R1 tank? I'm not sure, but i just did some googling (yes, while at work.) and i think that might really call out the monoshock and you'd have a really modern "middle section" while built on a sweet old school platform. I think that would be a cool look!

Then again. I'm not hero status. So don't go buying anything quite yet

Check out the Seca tank - it should be a straight swap. More angular, if that's what you're looking for.

Me? I like the 650. But then, I'm using the stock 400 Maxim tank on my build...

For the tank Im not too sure what Im lookin for. Ive got a pretty good idea what Im after for the rest...tall clean bars, chop the back, solo seat, suicide shift...something really fun to ride. Hoping Ill find the right tank with everyones help now lol
