Clean your carbs, the lazy way would be to run seafoam through the gas, its a great product. When I got my bike, it only ran with the choke on, and was hard to start, one tank of seafoam later and she ran like new.
No, I believe the ratio is one ounce per gallon of fuel. you can however pour it straight into the carbs while running. I'm not sure it would start on only seafoam.
I'm a Seafoam believer, but I use it to help KEEP a fuel system clean. I don't think it will open up a gunked up BS34. There's no substitute for tearing them down and cleaning them well.
"Timing" refers to when the cylinders fire, relative to the position of the camshaft. Timing is adjusted by the either the pickup coil or the points assembly (depending on the model) at the end of the camshaft.
