I've got a 80 xs400, the seat is really new and to be honest I hate it.

I'm 6ft, and have a really long reach. Given where the shelf is It feels really scrunched when I ride. I find I am often adjusting my position to sitting on the shelf. If I could move it 3-4 inches back I think it would be perfect.

Im curious how you all would do this? Reshape the foam myself, buy a new seat? I have no idea.

Thanks in advance.

Liam

no, not a cafe seat.

If you dont mind me asking how much did that set ya back? Ive got the design drawn up that I want for a custom seat, but if I can get it done for a reasonable price using the factory pan I would go that route.

$300-325 don't remeber exactly, but the Italian flag was extra. Call Sargent. They're very good

I met a guy that bought one of these and was satisfied. It looked good to me. IF they ahave a matching seat pan for your particular bike go there.

Well it is over 13,000km (8,000miles) from Bangkok to Vancouver.

All up cost is about $170 which was good enough for me to buy one.

Yeah, don't get me wrong - I'm thinking about it too. I'm just trying to decide if it's cost effective since it's still going to require modification to make it work.

Does anyone know if the seat pans and mounting are different throughout the years? More specifically, would a seat and or seat pan for an 82 fit a 77?

This is the one I like and I would probably by the seat and seat pan combo (if it works) because my pan is rusted through in some spots and needs replaced.
