Hello. I’ve just bought a non running xs400 se-82. Cleaned out the carbs. Found the springs in the membrane for the slides were different. Is that normal? My bike starts and drives fine after cleaning the carbs but it won’t come down to idle. Stays at about 3-4000 rpm. Anyone got any ideas?

Welcome!

No, but if it runs try going with them for a while until you figure out if they are causing any issues.

More questions than ideas at this point. Because the bike runs and drives okay, this sounds pilot circuit related, but more info is required

- Have you re-synchronized the carbs and reset the idle after the carb clean?
- Have you adjusted the idle mixture screws? How many turns out are they at this point?
If these above things have been done, try pulling off one plug wire at a time very briefly (don't leave them off for long or you might fry your TCI or coil) while the bike is idling and note the rpm reading while running on only one side or the other. Are they the same?

Also, what pilot jets are you running and is your intake stock or modified?
